Obsolete Parts Redesign for a Control Board Interface
A withdrawn interface device blocked every honest rebuild of a control board.

Background
The service company owns the installed base and the sample. The rest of the BOM was still purchasable. One communication device was the blocker, and the panel cutout could not change.
What we did
We kept the connectors and outline, replaced the withdrawn device with a currently made part, and redesigned only that circuit plus its decoupling. Firmware impact was written as an open test, not assumed away.
Files handed over
Substitute matrix, revised schematic sheets, updated board files for the changed area, and a bench test list.
Result
The first article matched the connector map. The service company scheduled firmware checks before releasing the board to the field.
