PCB Reverse Engineering Questions from Maintenance Teams

Straight answers for engineers who need a legacy board supported. If your question is about a specific sample, use the inquiry form and attach photos.

Do you accept boards we do not own?

No. Every inquiry must confirm that you own the sample or hold written authorization. We decline work that asks us to imitate a third-party product without that basis.

What do you deliver?

Depending on the scope: a schematic, a BOM, fabrication notes or Gerber and drill data, an archive index, and a redesign package when parts are withdrawn. Each quote lists the exact set.

How accurate is the recovered schematic?

Nets we can see or measure are drawn as such. Coated areas, missing markings, and buried features are labeled as open items. We do not fill gaps with guessed part numbers.

How long does a project take?

A two-layer control board with readable markings is often a few weeks after the sample arrives. Multilayer deprocess work and redesigns take longer and are scheduled in the quote.

How do you quote?

We quote after a review of photos, layer count, and the maintenance goal. There is no public price list, because board area, coatings, and obsolete parts change the effort.

Can you replace obsolete parts?

Yes, as a redesign. We show the substitute, the circuits that change, and the tests you should run. We do not hide a different part inside an extraction BOM.

Which industries do you support?

Industrial equipment maintainers, automation builders, energy and rail service teams, hardware ODM engineers, and repair companies. The work is for professional equipment, not consumer gadgets.

How do we start?

Send the inquiry form with the service type, layer count, and a short description. Attach photos if you have them. Tick the authorization box. We reply with questions or a review scope.
