A useful extraction is a schematic a technician can probe and a BOM a buyer can check. Decorative redraws that skip designators do not help a shutdown.
We record the marking printed on the part, the package, and the designator. When the marking is gone, the line stays in the BOM as unidentified, with the pins we could prove. That is more honest than a catalog guess.
Net names follow function where the circuit is clear, and they stay generic where it is not. Power rails are called out early because they decide which sections can be compared with the machine wiring diagram.
Ask for the open-item list in the same handover as the PDF. Those items are the difference between a document you can file and a document you can trust on a live asset.
If the goal later becomes a substitute or a Gerber lot, keep this extraction unchanged and open a redesign or fabrication task beside it. Boardrecord separates those scopes so the archive stays readable.
