Industrial Control Board File Recovery for a Line Controller

A control board on a packaging line had no schematic in the plant document system.

Background

The plant owns the machine and the spare board. Reference designators were intact, but the original controls vendor had closed. Technicians could swap the whole board and could not troubleshoot to the part.

What we did

We indexed the designators, traced the digital and I/O sections, and extracted a schematic plus a BOM. Unreadable IC markings were listed as open items with pin-count and supply pins only.

Files handed over

Multi-sheet schematic, BOM, and a photo index. The I/O connector pin table was included so the panel wiring drawing could be checked against the board.

Result

Maintenance used the schematic during the next planned stop and replaced a failed input stage instead of consuming the last spare assembly.
